Belize Weather: Blame it on the rain

By Aaron Humes: The National Meteorological Service says the rain isn’t going away for a few more hours yet.

Skies will be mostly cloudy today with periods of light rain, showers and thunderstorms over the north coast, with a fee over the interior this afternoon. Then tonight, expect showers and thunderstorms over most areas but especially the center and south.

High temperatures are 87 degrees along the coast, 91 degrees inland and 80 degrees in the hills. Tonight, it will be 78 degrees along the coast, 74 inland and 68 in the hills.

A flood warning is in effect for flood-prone and low-lying areas. A strong thunderstorm watch is in effect for the possibility of heavy rainfall and strong damaging winds accompanying thunderstorms.

Winds are from the east at 5 to 15 knots; sea state is choppy. A small craft caution remains in effect.

Tides will be low at 3:11 this afternoon and high at 9:08 tonight. Sunset is at 6:03 this evening and sunrise on Sunday is at 5:39.

For Sunday skies will be cloudy with some showers and thunderstorms over central and northern areas, declining by afternoon then returning along the coast on Sunday night.
