Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital back in emergency mode due to COVID-19

By Aaron Humes: Effective today, Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital is once again in emergency mode and has gone to Phase 3 of its COVID-19 response.

In order to make room for critical patients with COVID-19, elective surgery and specialist clinics are canceled until further notice.

Also, visitation is canceled until further notice, and items for patients may be dropped off three times per day at 9 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Urgent medical attention not related to COVID-19 should be sought from local clinics and hospitals and elective surgeries will be referred to regional hospitals as necessary.

32 persons are actively hospitalized due to COVID-19 and six of these are in intensive care as active cases surged past 1200 this week.
