By BBN Staff: As the public continues to express outrage over the shooting death of 25-year-old Belize Defense Force Soldier Jesse Escobar, Albert Division Area Representative Tracy Taegar Panton has joined those calling for justice on Escobar’s behalf.
Taegar-Panton took to Facebook this morning to vent her frustration with the issue, stressing that law enforcement officers should not be playing judge, jury, and executioner under any circumstances.
“I am horrified by the cold-blooded murder of, 29-year old BDF Officer Jessie Escobar in Cayo last night…,” she said. ” We can not be silent. We need justice for BDF Officer Jessie Escobar and for all those who have lost their lives due to such senseless acts of aggression against another human being.”
Taegar-Panton is the first parliamentarian to speak out on the issue, which has garnered national outrage since surveillance footage released shows Escobar, with a drink in hand taking a single step towards the BDF soldier before he was shot to the chest with an M4 carbine in front of his family.
