One shot-Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine now available

By Aaron Humes: The Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine is now available at all vaccination sites, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

The vaccines were donated through the African Platform as arranged by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

It says in a statement, “This is a one-dose vaccine and the body starts developing immunity two weeks after receiving the vaccine.”

The Ministry further urges all unvaccinated persons 18 years and older to get vaccinated.

Please check local health centers or the Facebook page of the Ministry of Health & Wellness for more information. The ministry also continues to encourage parents to take their children ages 12 years and older to get vaccinated.

All persons are reminded to continue wearing a facemask properly, maintain physical distance, and wash and sanitize hands often.
