Pfizer Vaccine now available for pregnant women in Belize

Posted: Monday, September 6, 2021. 9:19 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health and Wellness says pregnant women can now receive the Pfizer vaccine, which is given in two doses, 21 days in between doses.

The information available on vaccination during pregnancy raises no concern regarding safety or effectiveness; however, pregnant women should discuss the vaccine with their health care provider.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness urges pregnant women to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as vaccinated persons are less likely to get infected, develop severe symptoms, or be hospitalized due to COVID-19.
Please visit designated school compounds that are currently serving as vaccination sites for the Pfizer vaccine which is being administered to children ages 12 and up.

All persons are reminded to continue wearing a facemask properly, maintain physical distance, and wash and sanitize hands often.
