Santa Familia Village Council rally villagers to demand justice for slain BDF soldier

By BBN Staff: The Santa Familia Village Council is calling on villagers to join in demanding justice for Jesse Escobar, the Belize Defense Force (BDF) soldier and resident of Santa Familia, who was shot dead last night by a fellow soldier.

The council issued a call on social media this morning for villagers to post up signs demand justice at Branch Mouth Stop and Shop, where the shooting took place.

“This cannot stay like this, we need to fight for our villager,” the council said.

The council also expressed its sincere condolences to Escobar’s family in their time of bereavement.

Escobar received a single shot at close range last night during an altercation with a joint police and BDF patrol team.

Surveillance footage from the store shows the situation escalating and Escobar getting shot at the one-minute mark in the video, in front of his wife and four-year-old daughter.
