Armed Robbers of Red Bank shop elude Police

By Aaron Humes: Police are still on the hunt for the robbers of a Chinese-owned store in Red Bank, Stann Creek District yesterday.

According to store owners Wanjuan Yam, 50, and her husband Guo Nong Yam, 50, they were both inside the shop when she noticed a black SUV without a license plate arrive and park in front of her shop, and noticed two dark complexion men exit the vehicle and enter inside both armed with handguns.

They initially held up the owners and were joined immediately thereafter by 4 more men who pulled down the metal curtain shutters.

Taken was $1,000 cash; ice cream; liquor; three cell phones and the store’s DVR system.

Dangriga Police was alerted and recovered a black Ford Expedition vehicle overturned at Mile 6, Southern Highway, suspected to be the vehicle used in carrying out the robbery. The culprits had a shootout with Police and escaped into the bushes.

Police investigations continue.
