PUP Belize Rural North says area representative Marconi Leal ‘doing okay after hospital trip’

By Aaron Humes: A trip to the hospital appears to have stabilized Belize Rural North area representative Marconi Leal, Sr.

His Executive Committee has issued a statement saying it has been in communication with the Minister’s family and “is happy to report that he is now doing okay.”

It adds, “Whilst at home recovering from the Covid-19 virus, as a precautionary measure [Leal] was taken by his family to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for observation. It was there that his attending physician recommended for him to be placed on a ventilator in order to stabilize his low oxygen levels. Since then, his family has relocated him to the Belize Healthcare Partners, where he is currently undergoing further observation.”

It asks to keep him, other constituents battling the virus, and others in our thoughts and prayers.

Leal was first elected last November after a sensational upset of incumbent Edmond Castro and is one of the few parliamentarians without a Ministry or senior position in Government. We add our own thoughts and prayers for him and his family.
