Public Service Ministry attacked for soliciting donations to be distributed in name of Rt. Hon George Price

By Aaron Humes: A circular memorandum to public officers from Chief Executive Officer, Rolando Zetina, has been questioned for asking for more from public officers to celebrate National Service Day.

This is the first National Service Day for the People’s United Party in Government. Late leader and National Hero Rt Hon. George Price died on September 19, 2011.

This year public officers are being asked to make “in-kind donations via a box at each Ministry office starting today, its contents to be distributed after a church service on the 19th to people in need.”

Opposition Vice-Chairman Alberto August roundly condemned the decision online, reminding that public officers and teachers were made to give up ten percent of their salaries earlier this year due to economic hardship.
