Minister of Education Francis Fonseca: ‘Making most of diminished September Celebrations’

By Aaron Humes: As Belize battles its many problems, Minister of Education Francis Fonseca said we must rely on our sense of purpose and pride and resilience to get through.

And so while Belizeans can’t get out and jump up as we are used to at this time of year, we must put the national interest first ahead of our own, he noted, joining the steady drumbeat in favour of vaccination at all levels against COVID-19.

Plans for the September Celebrations include official concerts in four municipalities and presentations of prizes to successful Belizeans in arts and letters.

The ceremony continues with the installation of Queen of the Bay Druewel Jones by predecessor Myra Sibirian and a cultural presentation.
