By Aaron Humes: Regional examination board the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has reassured that it will meet its mid-October deadline for the release of results from the May/June 2021 examinations.
Exams were held after the planned delay of a month from June 28 to July 30 for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).
Results will be first released to national Ministries of Education in each member state followed by a joint meeting, then individual releases to candidates by October 15 (except for St Vincent and the Grenadines which will get results by October 20.)
The CXC team says is in contact with regional and international higher education institutions to communicate this timing to minimize the possibility of students being disadvantaged during the matriculation process.
Countries like Belize often tie CSEC/CAPE results to scholarship assistance.
Like many things, the pandemic impacted the handling of regional tests with the Government reducing the number of tests it voluntarily pays for.
