Belize Tourism Board honors first Frontline Worker of the Month

Posted: Monday, September 13, 2021. 7:52 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) issued its first “Frontline Worker of the Month” award, honoring the heroic efforts of Senior Public Health Inspector Lisa Tillett Moir.

Moir, a 20-year veteran with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, was chosen in collaboration with the Ministry for taking on extended duties once the COVID-19 pandemic hit Belize, which includes assisting with the processing of persons who have lost the battle to COVID-19 and ensuring that the movement of the body is carried out in the proper way. She visits the police stations and residential care homes for the elderly and children, to ensure that all protocols are in place for the safety of the residents and workers.

The BTB said that Moir was awarded a two-night stay for 2 people, plus breakfast, courtesy of Ka’ana Resort, and $2,500 courtesy of the BTB.

“The BTB is pleased to announce that each month a new Frontline Hero will be chosen through close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness. We express heartfelt gratitude to all frontline workers for their exemplary work and dedication,” the BTB said.

Moir was also honored by Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Anthony Mahler, who personally handed over her award on behalf of the Ministry, the BTB, and thanked her for her service.

“We are very grateful to have selfless people like you working at the frontline. Like many others in this line of duty, you are the real superhero. Stay safe, and do not forget to take care of yourself while taking care of us,” Mahler said.
