Denmark bars non-vaccinated travelers from six countries from entry

Posted: Monday, September 13, 2021. 9:13 am CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: Denmark has imposed a travel ban on unvaccinated travelers from six countries according to a report from Schengenvisainfo.com.

The decision reportedly follows new recommendations from the European Union (EU) Council to the Member States to impose more entry restrictions on those countries as COVID-19 infections in those territories continue to soar.

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the ban on Friday, September 10, will be in place for:

Albania
Armenia
Azerbaijan
Brunei Darussalam
Japan
Serbia

Danish authorities, have moved these countries from the “Green” and placed them on Orange One: meaning that travelers from these destinations need to be vaccinated to be eligible to enter Denmark. Exemptions exist for the non-vaccinated to enter Denmark but only for absolutely essential purposes. Those who have been exempt from vaccination requirements will still have to be in possession of a valid negative PCR or rapid antigen test result. The PCR test result must not be older than 72 hours, while the rapid antigen test result must not be older than 48 hours. Upon arrival to Denmark, the same must also undergo a second test after entry and stay self-isolated for ten days.

Danish authorities have also advised citizens of the country to refrain from travelling to the countries on the list due to the increased risk of getting infected with COVID-19.

“This means that the countries in question change colour in the Danish travel guides and that unnecessary travel to these countries is discouraged due to a high risk of infection. It is noted that the recommendation does not in principle apply to fully vaccinated and previously infected. Prior to your departure, you should check what entry restrictions are in place at your destination,” the Ministry also notes.

Last week, Denmark declared that the pandemic was officially over in the country, boasting over 80 percent vaccination of its total population.
