More than 170 new COVID-19 infections as cases continue to soar

By Benjamin Flowers: The “third wave” of the COVID-19 pandemic as described by medical professionals continued today with over 170 newly reported cases.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ latest daily report says that there were 176 new cases detected from a batch of 1,398 samples.

New cases were split between 99 females and 77 males.

The country’s national total for infections has reached 18,43, while the daily positivity rate stood at 12.9.

The Belize District had 79 reported cases making it the single highest contributor to the overall number, with 60 of those cases happening in Belize City.
