Belize District continues to lead with number of new COVID-19 cases, over 100 new cases reported

By Benjamin Flowers: For the past several weeks, the majority of new COVID-19 cases reported in the country have come from the Belize District, based on data published by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. That trend continued today as almost 200 new cases were reported and more than 100 of them came from the Belize District.

The total number of new cases reported today was 198, 103 of which came from the Belize District.

Similarly, Belize City continues to lead nationally in terms of new cases, representing 82 of the 103 cases coming out of the Belize District.

The Cayo district was next in line, representing 39 of the new cases reported today, with Belmopan, Benque Viejo, Camalote, and Valley of Peace tying at 5 cases each.

Orange Walk followed with only 18 new cases, nine of which were from Orange Walk Town. The Toledo district reported 12 new cases.

Corozal and Stann Creek reported 9 cases each, and San Pedro Town, which is tabulated separately from the Belize District, reported 8 new cases.
