Elderly man served with notice of intended prosecution over fatal road traffic accident involving minor

By BBN Staff: Police have served 63-year-old Pastor Sanchez with a notice of intended prosecution following a fatal road traffic accident in August Pine Ridge, Orange Walk District, yesterday.

Sanchez told police that the deceased, 17-year-old Luis Martinez was riding a motorcycle and made a left turn crashing into his vehicle, causing severe injuries. Martinez was taken to the Northern Regional hospital where he was later pronounced dead by a medical officer.

Police took samples from Sanchez to test for blood alcohol levels as part of an ongoing investigation.

Director of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Fitzroy Yearwood noted today that it was Sanchez who took police to the scene of the accident. Yearwood also said that Sanchez has been fully cooperating with police since the incident occurred.
