By BBN Staff: Police are trying to determine a motive behind a shooting in Belize City yesterday that has left one man critical in the hospital.
Twenty-nine-year-old Elsworth Hendy was shot in the face yesterday while he was riding his bicycle with another person on upper Vernon Street when two people on a motorcycle stopped a few feet from them and the passenger opened fire on them.
Hendy was shot to the face and ran up Vernon Street, managing to escape his attackers. He was later taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he remains fighting for his life.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department said that police have no suspects and no motive for the crime at this time.
“We have officers canvassing that area trying to find out what could have been the motive behind that shooting and hopefully we could get some answers to try to ascertain who are the suspects in that shooting,” Yearwood said.
