1,700 Belizeans currently infected with COVID-19

By Benjamin Flowers: There are now 1,700 people in Belize who have active COVID-19 infections.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported today that the 1,700 active infections are split between 933 females and 767 males.

Health authorities also have an additional 224 cases under investigation.

Meanwhile, there are now 31 patients hospitalized due to the virus, 12 of whom are receiving critical care in an intensive care unit.

The MOHW also reported that 314 new patients have recovered from the infection, bringing the national total for recoveries up to 17,065.

The national recovery rate was adjusted to 89.0.
