Prime Minister departs country for New York to attend United Nations General Assembly

By Aaron Humes: Fresh off his Independence Day address on Tuesday, Prime Minister John Briceño is headed off to New York City for the ongoing United Nations General Assembly.

Each of Belize’s Prime Ministers has addressed the body since Belize gained Independence in 1981. Belize formally joined the body four days after Independence on September 25.

The Prime Minister is expected to address critical issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, economic development and investment and climate change.

Deputy Cordel Hyde holds the reins while the P.M. is away.
