By Aaron Humes: Recognizing the critical need for affordable housing among the population, in his Independence Day address Prime Minister John Briceño spoke about efforts to provide Belizeans with adequate housing.
To that end, he reported, his government has already started to construct 150 new homes.
These homes will be primarily for first-time homeowners and single mothers in Cayo, Dangriga, Cow Pen Village, and in Belize City.
Later this month, construction of 30 more homes for single parents will begin.
In addition to these new homes, dilapidated community houses in Belize City (the famous “Long Barracks”) will be repaired.
