Active COVID-19 infections now over 1,900, could be over 2000 by next week

By Benjamin Flowers: More than 1,900 people in Belize are currently infected with COVID-19, with data from the Ministry of Health and Wellness shows the possibility of cases exceeding 2,000 by next week.

The ministry’s latest data shows that there are 1,928 active COVID-19 infections and another 733 suspected cases that are under investigation which could send active cases considerably higher.

There are also 36 patients hospitalized due to the virus with 13 of them receiving critical care in an intensive care unit.

The MOHW also reported that 38new patients have recovered from their infection, bringing the national total for recoveries up to 17,247.

The national recovery rate was adjusted to 88.0.
