Commissioner of Police reiterates point of ‘no movement Sundays’

Posted: Friday, September 24, 2021. 3:12 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams is reminding that the first “no movement Sunday” due on September 26 applies countrywide with specific exceptions.

Belizeans are only allowed to move with a purpose, i.e. to obtain essential services or supplies like groceries and water, or transport to and from the Airport.

Police retain the right to question anyone who is moving about and turn you back if they feel you are trying to deceive them or if your purpose is not essential.

The Police will be discretionary in instances where, for example, people need to get to work as an essential service or someone under 18 buying for someone who is incapacitated or infirm.

Even taxi drivers can only take calls from home for essential services.

Anyone found contravening the regulation receives a ticket for a fine of $500.
