By BBN Staff: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has offered his sympathies to the family of 15-year-old Dwayne Gabourel, who was shot in Belize City yesterday.
Williams said that when he heard the news he was appalled, noting that the shooter was “heartless: and a coward.” He also noted that Gabourel was a young man known to be dedicated to education.
“He has absolutely no gang affiliation and certainly did not deserve what happened to him,” Williams said.
Williams said that he is praying for Gabourel’s recovery and thanked everyone doing the same. He also said that police investigations into the incident continues and that police have some “very good leads.”
“We are optimistic that very soon we will have enough to charge those who are responsible,” Williams added.
Gabourel, a resident of Pickstock Street, was shot yesterday evening while at a grocery store on New Road. He was shot several times to the upper body by a shooter who jumped onto a motorcycle and sped off after.
