Seven years have passed since Danny Conorquie was murdered

By BBN Staff: On September 25, 2014, Special Constable Danny Conorquie lost his life while on duty at the Caracol Archeological site in the Cayo District. Seven years later, the person or persons responsible remain at large.

Tourism police had confiscated five horses, which was an indication of illegal Guatemalan loggers in the area, as they use horses to transport wood from the Chiquibul forest.

The 20-year-old SC of the Tourism Police Unit was gunned down in broad daylight by one of those illegal Guatemalan loggers, not far from a group of tourists and tour guides who released a video on social media detailing how they had to take cover from shots.

The murderer then took Conorquie’s service weapon before escaping back to Guatemala.

Conorquie has been honored in several ways over the years by the Government of Belize, individuals, and organizations. While the call for justice in his name remains unanswered, he remains in all our memories as a true Belizean patriot who lost his life defending his country.
