By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) is celebrating Wellness Week 2021 with a series of virtual activities on Zoom from September 27 to October 1 under the theme, “Seeking Occupational Health & Wellness in times of COVID-19.”
On Fitness Monday, the MOHW started out with a discussion on wellness and physical activity at the workplace with Dr. Jorge Polanco of PAHO and a session on the importance of physical activity for an integral health with Dr. Manuel Ramirez of INCAP.
On Tasty Tuesday, MOHW’s Robyn Daly discusses Healthy Affordable Foods at 9 a.m. and INCAP’s Anabel Maciel deals with healthy eating in the context of COVID-19 at 10:30 a.m.
On Wellness Wednesday, nutritionist Karen Rosito presents on “To enjoy the Glow of Good Health, you must Exercise” at 9 a.m. and Eldred Neal, NDACC Orange Walk District Coordinator discusses Substance Use/Moderate Drinking at 10:30 a.m.
Relaxing Thursday is time for a discussion on the Importance of Self Care with Michele Williams at 9 a.m.
Finally, on Mindful Friday, Nurse Iveth Quintanilla of the MOHW’s Mental Health Unit looks at Mental Health at the Workplace at 9 a.m. and Michele Williams closes the Wellness Week with a look at The Importance of Being Present at 10:30 a.m.
