By BBN Staff: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, hinted today that the possible motive for the shooting of 15-year-old Dwayne Gabourel is a case of mistaken identity, but Williams says he does not accept that explanation.

At a press briefing this morning, Williams condemned the shooting in the strongest possible terms, stressing that Gabourel was truly undeserving of his fate as he was not gang-affiliated nor did he have relatives that are gang-affiliated.

Speaking on the possible motive, Williams said, “At the end of the day, this whole notion about mistaken identity…bullcrap…I don’t buy that nonsense. That young man, as you look at him…you can see that he is a child. And the person that they say they have mistaken him for that young man is far better looking than the person they say they mistook him for.”

Williams said that he feels the perpetrator wanted to make a statement with shooting Gabourel, a statement that he must now face the full weight of the law for sending. He went on to say that police are doing everything they can to seek the prime suspect, who he says is now in hiding.
