By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Prime Minister John Briceño was an invited guest at the historic celebration of the Entrance to Mexico City of the Army of the Three Guarantees that marked the consummation of the Independence of Mexico on September 27, 1821.

“We dedicate the commemoration of the 200 years of the Consummation of Independence to the importance of friendly relations with the nations of the world; there’s a lot that unites us,” said López Obrador at the ceremony on Monday night. “We subscribe to peace, sovereignty, and love. It’s the time of pardon and mutual respect. We shall continue promoting the universal fraternity.”

Briceño and the Belize delegation are on a one-week State Visit to Mexico and are expected to have a personal meeting with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Friday.

Prime Minister Briceño said that at the Heads of Government CELAC meeting in Mexico, a full delegation from Belize was invited by President López Obrador for a series of bilateral meetings.

“The goal is to deepen relations for opportunities of investment in Belize by Mexico’s business and other government interests,” said Briceño in a social media post.

The delegation left Belize on Monday and arrived in Mexico City later in the day for a week of meetings with Mexican public and private sector entities.

The Belize delegation is comprised of Special Envoy for Families and Children, Mrs. Rossana Briceno; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration (MFA) Eamon Courtenay; Minister of Agriculture Jose Abelardo Mai; Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Investment and Economic Development Christopher Coye; Chief Executive Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister Narda Garcia; MFA Chief Executive Officer Amalia Mai; Ambassador for Trade Jaime Briceno; and Graciana Briceño, Executive Assistant in the Office of the Prime Minister.
