By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating an apparent attempt to traffick and import controlled drugs, specifically cannabis, through the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA).
On Monday, Customs officials handed over to their Police counterparts 37-year-old American Martrez Rodricos Newell, who had just arrived in-country at ten minutes to midday on a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta, Georgia.
While searching his luggage, Customs officers found a grey Dove soap box concealing two transparent plastic bags containing suspected cannabis which weighed 63.1 grams or 2.22 ounces.
Newell remains in custody as investigations continue.
