Number of active COVID-19 cases continue to rise

By BBN Staff: The number of people who are currently infected with COVID-19 went above 2,000 this week, and despite numerous reported recoveries, active cases continue to rise.

The latest daily update from the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) shows that there are 2,176 active cases, 74 more than were reported yesterday.

There are also an additional 390 suspected cases under investigation.

Hospitalizations due to the virus have reached 50 patients, with 14 of them receiving critical care in an intensive care unit.

The MOHW also reported that 198 new patients have recovered from their infection, bringing the national total for recoveries up to 17,956.

The national recovery rate was adjusted to 87.3.
