By Aaron Humes: The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority Board has confirmed that Chandra Nisbet Cansino has signed a contract to be Chief Executive officer with effect from October 15.

In a statement the Board says, “The incoming CEO possesses the qualifications and the character necessary to lead the nation’s flagship hospital into the future, with a commitment not only to exceptional medical care for ALL, but to the enhancement of internal structures and staff inclusivity and operations, excellence in customer/patient service and financial integrity.”

The statement quotes Cansino as saying, “It is my honour to join the KHMH team and I look forward to the continued path toward excellence. There is much work to be done, but my confidence in the commitment of the men and women who serve at the KHMH remains strong.”

The Authority also confirmed the appointments of new Board members Drs. Julio Sabido and Fernando Cuellar, along with Ms. Daisy Codd, and promised “new appointments to critical positions in the management of the KHMH shortly, as we prepare for challenging days ahead.

The hospital faces a financial and personnel squeeze as it battles the surge of COVID cases, not to mention other life-threatening issues on a daily basis.
