By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported on Thursday that up to Wednesday, September 29, 193,769 persons have been vaccinated in Belize since the vaccination drive was rolled out months ago.
So, far, 127,508 have been fully vaccinated.
Out of the total, 24,032 persons from 12 to 17 years of age have been vaccinated during September.
During this month, 5,470 persons 18 and over have also been vaccinated.
The MOHW started out vaccinating with AstraZeneca vaccines and afterwards added Sinopharm and Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccines for the 18 and over population and Pfizer vaccines for those 12 to 17.
While everyone is encouraged to just show up at the vaccination sites countrywide, persons may also schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments online using the link at https://vrsa.health.gov.bz/.
The Ministry says persons 18 and over who have received their first dose qualify for the second after 8 weeks.
The MOHW advises everyone “that even after getting vaccinated, persons are to continue wearing a face mask properly in public, maintain consistent physical distancing, avoid social gatherings, and wash and sanitize hands often.”
“Please be safe and stay at home unless conducting essential business.”
