Police investigate attempted arson at Belize City woman’s apartment

By Aaron Humes: A Belize City woman’s residence was apparently targeted by fire on Wednesday evening, according to police.

Abelene Zelaya, 18, of Bingo King Apartments, Fabers Road Extension, Belize City, said she was sleeping and was awakened by the aroma of kerosene.

Upon making checks at the front door of her apartment, she saw a green curtain in front of her door on fire. She also saw a man known to her riding away on a bicycle.

Police are investigating.
