Major Eric Neal, senior soldier and Scout passes away

By Aaron Humes: Major Eric Neal of the Belize Defence Force is confirmed to have died according to sources.

He had posted updates as recently as yesterday saying he had made peace with himself, God and others and was admitted at the Western Regional Hospital.

Major Neal was most recently Officer Commanding Echo Company and had a distinguished background, including earning a Master’s degree in Defense Studies from the Canadian Forces College.

He was also a Scout leader, being appointed Chief Scout of Belize in 2017 by Governor-General and patron Sir Colville Young.

He was remembered by area representative for Mesopotamia Moses “Shyne” Barrow as “A friend, a brother, a father, a husband, a son and a servant to Belize serving in the BDF. Thank you brother for your distinguished service to our Nation as a frontline worker. Deepest sympathies to your family.”
