Belize Audubon Society closes number of parks on Mondays and Tuesdays in October

Posted: Saturday, October 2, 2021. 9:31 am CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Audubon Society (BAS) is closing a number of parks on Mondays and Tuesdays in October.

“Please note, all terrestrial BAS parks (Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park, Guanacaste National Park, and Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary) will be CLOSED on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout October,” said the BAS in a statement on social media on Saturday.

The BAS said the measure will allow them time “for the implementation of COVID sanitization and safety measures and changes to shift patterns for staff”.

The BAS said it will review these measures at the end of October and provide updates accordingly.

In the meantime, the BAS said Half Moon Caye and the Blue Hole Natural Monument will remain open 7 days a week.

Additionally, all sites will be closed on Sunday, October 3, due to the government-mandated no-movement day.

BAS parks are normally open from 8 am – 4.30 pm.

The BAS reminds visitors to take all necessary health and safety precautions when visiting and to explore responsibly.
