By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As of November, the United States is lifting a travel ban on many countries and will require all foreigners to be fully vaccinated said The Ascent.
Americans will reenter regardless of vaccination status, but entry requirements are going to be stricter.
Fully vaccinated US citizens still have to show a negative COVID-19 test taken within a period of 72 prior to departure when returning home, but those who are unvaccinated now need to provide a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of departure. Plus, they’ll have to show that they have bought a viral test to take after arrival.
Foreigners entering the United States will have to be fully vaccinated and, like Americans, they’ll have to provide a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to departure. Foreigners who are not vaccinated will not be allowed entry into the United States.
The vaccines the US will consider valid are those approved by either the World Health Organization (WHO) or the US Food and Drug Administration. That includes Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, and Chinese vaccines, but it doesn’t include the Russian Sputnik V vaccine which has not been approved by the WHO.
