Belize Weather: Tropical wave bring wet ending to the week

Posted: Thursday, October 7, 2021. 7:07 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The National Meteorological Service says the influence of a tropical wave crossing the country is responsible for our current unsettled weather pattern.

Skies today will be cloudy with showers, rain, and isolated thunderstorms for most areas, decreasing tonight. A flood watch remains in effect for flood-prone and low-lying areas.

High temperatures are 86 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 89 inland, and 76 in the hills. Tonight it will be 78 along the coast, 72 inland, and 68 in the hills.

Winds are easterly at 5 to 15 knots and the sea state is light chop; a small craft caution is in effect near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Tides will be high at 10:41 this morning and 10:24 tonight and high at 4:34 this afternoon. The sun sets at 5:36 this evening and rises at 5:44 Friday morning.

There will be a few more showers and thunderstorms countrywide on Friday.

Our thanks to forecaster Francisca Wellington at the Belize Weather Bureau, Ladyville.
