By Aaron Humes: A couple from Hopkins, Stann Creek District, were held up at their home in the village on Friday night.
Two dark-skinned men suddenly entered the couple’s wooden house with zinc roofing measuring 14 feet by 18 feet elevated 2 feet off the ground around 8:40 p.m. One who was armed with a knife demanded money.
The other, carrying a black handgun in his right hand, searched the house for money and pointed his weapon at the woman. The man with the knife then entered the man’s room where he was watching TV, punched him to the left side of his face, took out $60 from his black wallet, and threw it on the bed.
He also removed took a Kindle Fire Tablet valued at $100, two Samsung cell phones with calling numbers 607-3429 & 605-6044 valued at $50 each, and a pink Samsung cell phone without sim card valued at $100 for a total of $360.
Both individuals escaped on foot running west into Hopkins village. Complainants were unable to identify the intruders because of their face coverings.
