Retired American found floating dead in sea

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating the sudden death of a retired American bartender on Ambergris Caye.

Warren Curtis Nitz, 70, of Blake Street, San Pedro Town, had been living here for the past four years and worked as a bartender.

He was found floating in the water off the beachfront in front of Corona Del Mar Hotel, Coconut Drive in southern San Pedro Town around 5:30 a.m. after a security guard was alerted to the sight by another man. The guard then informed a business owner in the area who retrieved the body and waited for police.

Police say no sign of injury was observed on the body and there were minor scrapes to the face.

Their investigations continue.
