Police issue more details on the murder of Malcolm Hyde, 21

By BBN Staff: Police have issued more details on the murder of Malcolm Hyde, 21, which occurred in Roaring Creek Village, Cayo yesterday.

According to authorities, they received information around 5.28 pm of shots being fired in front of Miller’s Depot/Internet Cafe and Variety Store in the Hattie Ville area of Roaring Creek and were told that a person had been rushed to the Western Regional Hospital.

When they (police) visited the hospital, they learned that Malcolm Hyde was shot. He had several gunshot wounds to the body and was rushed to the emergency room for surgery.

Initial investigation revealed that Hyde along with his girlfriend Darcy Wright, 26, drove from Belmopan City to Roaring Creek Village around 5 PM and went to Miller’s Depot, and parked in front of the establishment.

Wright then exited the car to order food and Hyde stayed seated inside the car. About 1 minute later, a male person wearing a white shirt with blue color short pants emerged on the scene and fired several shots at Hyde causing the gunshot injuries.

Wright then ran outside and saw a male person running alone on the dirt roading heading towards the direction of the George Price Highway.

She rushed her boyfriend to the hospital however he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing surgery.

The body of Hyde has been transported to the National Forensic Science and Service Lab morgue awaiting a post mortem examination.

Police investigation continues.
