Orange Walk Town Council raises Taiwan National Flag in honour of Taiwan National Day

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As promised by Mayor Ladrick Sheppard when the Taiwan Ambassador visited Orange Walk last week, on Sunday, October 10, the Orange Walk Town Council raised the Taiwan Flag alongside the Belize Flag on the occasion of Taiwan national Day.

Present for the flag-raising on Sunday were Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) David Kuan-Chou Chien, his wife, and his secretary.

The Orange Walk Town Council thank the members of the Belize Defense Force for assisting with the flag-raising.

Taiwan Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien had visited Orange Walk on Wednesday and met with Mayor Ladrick Sheppard to celebrate Taiwan National Day.

During his visit, Ambassador Chien handed Mayor Sheppard, 300 gift packages on the occasion of the 110th “Double Ten” National Day of Taiwan which comes up on Sunday, October 10. Ambassador Chien also made a cash donation for a back-to-school initiative in Orange Walk.

“In a collaboration with the Orange Walk Town Council, the Embassy successfully shared our joy and happiness with residents of the Sugar City by distributing goodwill bags containing exquisite Taiwanese style pastries,” said the Embassy of Taiwan on social media last week.

The Taiwanese Ambassador also shared goodwill bags in Belize City and Belmopan on the occasion of Taiwan National Day.
