By Aaron Humes: A police investigation continues into the apparent drowning death of a tourist in the Placencia Peninsula on Sunday afternoon.
62-year-old Katherine Ann Levinson, staying at Brown’s Bella Breeze resort at Harbor Place South with her husband, was relaxing on a floater in the lagoon around 1:30 p.m. and adjusting the umbrella covering the floater, when she suddenly slid off into the lagoon and failed to resurface.
With assistance, the body was retrieved and CPR was applied without success.
Levinson’s husband, not named by police, told them that she knew how to swim and was sober at the time of the incident. A post-mortem swab for Covid-19 proved negative. There were no other signs of injuries on the body.
Levinson awaits a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
