By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Prime Minister John Briceño says under the new three-month COVID-19 plan churches will be allowed to reopen soon.
However, they will only be allowed to have 50% of congregation and only fully vaccinated persons will be allowed to attend the services in person.
The Prime Minister said he had spoken to a number of pastors about the situation. He added that the persons in charge of the churches, meaning pastors or priests, will have to be in charge and responsible to ensure the regulations are respected. The PM made the revelations on the Open Your Eyes show on Channel 5 on Wednesday morning.
Since the present statutory instrument says that “for the purposes of preventing, controlling, containing and suppressing the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19, churches and other places of worship shall not be allowed to operate”, a new statutory instrument which reflects the changes will soon be signed into law.
