Prime Minister says GOB plans to declare Southside Belize City a ‘Special Development Area’

By BBN Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño says GOB has plans to declare Southside Belize City, which has been proliferated by gangs, as a ‘Special Development Area’.

Speaking on Channel 5s Open Your Eyes on Wednesday morning, the PM said his government plans on implementing the PUP’s free education promise. He said that GOB also plans on working with businesses to encourage them to hire Southside youths.

Additionally, the government is also hoping to acquire abandoned lots in Mesopotamia and Queen Square constituencies to build starter homes for single mothers.
