By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) has selected riders to represent Belize in the Cycling Junior Caribbean Championships.
The Junior Caribbean Championships is to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from October 22 to 24, 2021.
Belize’s participation comes at the invitation from the President of Santo Domingo Federation Jorge Blas Díaz and the Caribbean Cycling Federation.
The CFB said it was “working to make this event possible for our Junior and Youth Male & Female” and has selected the following riders as Junior National Team.
Junior Men:
Derrick Chavarria
Renan Codd
Goran Gabourel
Dion O’Brien
Elwin Humes
Substitute (Alternate)
Daniel Williams
Women Junior:
Gabrielle Gabourel
Youth Men:
Tyler Tejada
The Individual Time Trial is scheduled for Saturday, October 23, and the Road Race for Sunday, October 24.
The Time Trial will be 12.5 miles (20 Kms) for the Junior Men and 6.25 miles (10 Kms) for the Youth Men and the Junior Women.
The Road Race will cover 56.25 miles (90 Kms) for the Junior Men, 43.75 miles (70 Kms) for the Youth Men and 37.5 miles (60 Kms) for the Junior Women.
Both races start at 9:00 am, local time, (7:00 am, Belize Time).
The Technical Meeting is set for 7:00 pm (5:00 pm Belize) on Friday, October 22.
The teams are expected to arrive in Santo Domingo on Thursday, October 21, and leave on Monday, October 25.
