By BBN Staff: Darrel “Tutsi Roll” Usher, son of Minister of State, Gilroy Usher, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he pleaded not guilty to firearm and ammunition charges in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.
Usher, a former police officer, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Khiana Gordon where two charges were read to him: one count of kept unlicensed firearm, and one count of kept unlicensed ammunition.
Given the nature of the offense, he could not be offered bail at the Magistrate level; however, attorney Dickie Bradley has reportedly begun filing for Supreme Court bail on his behalf. His bail application hearing is set for October 22, if his application is unsuccessful he will remain on remand until his next court date, which is December 28.
Usher made headlines over the weekend when it was reported that he was allegedly found in possession of the alleged murder weapon. However, no charges were levied against him with respect to the murder and police say that investigations into that matter are still ongoing.
