By BBN Staff: Police have detained a woman from Jalacte village, Toledo district in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on Sunday.
We note that the woman has not been formally charged with any offense as such her name must be withheld.
Reports are that the woman and her common-law husband got into an altercation yesterday while he was socializing in the Adjacency Zone, some 200 feet away from the border of Santa Cruz, Guatemala. During the altercation, Justo Ubeny Agustin Martinez, 36, intervened trying to part the couple, when the woman took a Corona pint, broke it, and stabbed him in the neck.
Martinez was rushed to a medical facility in Chacte, Guatemala, and police say they later received information that he later died from his injury. The woman’s common-law-husband had tried to help her escape by boarding a passenger bus which she operates. However, the passenger bus ran out of gas and the woman was apprehended by police in San Antonio Village, Toledo District.
