Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center trains 12 in basic fire management

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center held basic fire management training for 12 trainees.

“The work continues in the Maya Forest Corridor to build capacity for effective fire management among communities, private landowners, and NGOs in this important landscape,” said The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center (TBZTEC) on Facebook on Tuesday.

The training basic fire management training this past weekend taught the trainees theoretical and practical applications of fire, in order to reduce threats to public health, livelihoods, and ecosystems.

“This effort was organized by TBZTEC and our Corridor partners, facilitated by Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE), hosted at Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary – Belize Study Abroad with funding support from the U.S. Embassy Belize,” said The Belize Zoo.
