Belize Tourism Board hosting virtual travel expos for UK travel agents

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is hosting a series of travel expos for travel agents in the United Kingdom(UK), in preparation for travelers from the UK to be able to access Belize next month.

The UK-based travel site Travel Weekly said that that the expos will bring travel agents together with hotels, tour operators, destination management companies, tourism service providers, and associations to learn more about the country’s unique tourism offerings. Participants will also have the opportunity to win a spot on a familiarization trip to Belize to see the country and select destinations firsthand.

“In the first of the series, the Adventure + Sustainability Expo takes place on November 17-18 from 2.30 pm onwards. It includes a virtual ‘happy hour’ session and the chance to win one of six places on a Belize fam trip in 2022,” Travel Weekly said.

Currently, there are no direct flights from the UK to Belize, and with the United States’ borders still closed to UK travelers, they have no access to the country via connecting flights. However, the US recently announced that it will reopen for UK travelers on November 8.

While the US is Belize’s primary tourism market, the BTB continues its efforts to position Belize as a prime pick for other markets such as the UK, Canada, and Mexico.
