Facebook is rebranding under a new name says The Verge

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Facebook is rebranding and it will change its name said The Verge.

The social media company, which has been in the news a lot lately because of its business practices and its blackouts, is aiming at rebranding its image and will now focus on the metaverse said The Verge on Tuesday.

The metaverse, which Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been talking about, is a digital world where people can move from one device to another and communicate in a virtual environment said Reuters.

The Verge said the rebranding would place the Facebook app as one of several products under a parent company which would manage Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, and others. That move would be similar to Google reorganizing itself in 2015 under parent company Alphabet since it no longer considered itself just a search engine.

The Verge said that a spokesperson for Facebook declined to comment, while Reuters said Facebook said it doesn’t comment on “rumor or speculation.”
