Belize plays Guatemala today after 3-2 loss to El Salvador on Wednesday in Central American Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Women’s National Volleyball Team is today playing against Guatemala in their fourth game of the XXI Central American Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship in Managua, Nicaragua.

So far Belize is in the 5th position of the seven-team tournament after one win and two losses.

Belize fell on Wednesday to El Salvador in a 3-2 game: 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 18-25, and 16-18.

Sherika Burton scored 20 points for Belize while captain Nelissa Ramirez totaled 16 points.

Prior to that Belize started the tournament losing 0-3 to Costa Rica (16-25, 17-25, 13-25) on Monday, October 18, but bounced back on Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Honduras: 25-9, 17-25, 25-20, 17-25, 15-9.

Hosts Nicaragua and Costa Rica lead the competition with a 3-0 record. El Salvador is 3rd with 3-1 and Guatemala 4th with a 2-2.

Panama has lost all the three games it’s played while Honduras has lost all four.

On Friday, Belize will play against Nicaragua at 7:00 pm, and against Panama on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
